Gubernatorial candidate Allen Weh told the Republican Women of Chaves County Wednesday the centerpiece of his campaign is using a business model to revitalize the state’s economy.
“You have my assurance, the state will run like a business,” he said. “I’m going to make New Mexico state government responsive to business because that’s the future – it’s the engine to our economy.”
Weh told the audience of around 50 that in order to have better business in New Mexico, the state’s executive branch must support and help businesses to grow. He accused the current administration of driving away jobs by not being business friendly.
In addition, he spoke about the importance of improving the education system if elected governor. Education and a strong economy go hand-in-hand, he said.
“If I’m the next governor of this state and if I can’t show improvement in education in my first term in office, I won’t insult you and ask for re-election,” he said. “We’re going to make improvement.”
