Veteran's Day Message From Allen Weh

11/12/2009  By Allen Weh

Dear Friend,

Throughout our nation's history, many brave men and women have selflessly put themselves in harm's way not only to defend our freedom and preserve our rights, but also to defend the freedom and rights of the people of other nations.

Today, I ask you to join me in honoring our nation's veterans who have preserved the freedoms we enjoy today.

Everyone knows a veteran. Maybe it's a grandfather who stormed the beaches of Normandy to fight tyranny in Europe. Or maybe it's your son or daughter who is now overseas in Afghanistan or Iraq preserving freedom around the globe. Or maybe it's a neighbor or a friend who has served, is serving, or plans to serve this great nation of ours.

Whoever it might be, today belongs to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen and Marines who are serving or who have served and have given so much to preserve liberty and freedom for so many.

On Veteran's Day, it is not enough to remember only veterans and service members ? we must also remember their families. The silent courage and sacrifice of the families of veterans and service members is truly the fabric that makes the U.S. military the most formidable force in history. I also ask you to join me in remembering the families and fallen warriors at Ft. Hood, whose actions in the aftermath of the recent tragedy have reminded all Americans what it means to have true courage.

Today, we honor all who are serving and all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces for their collective courage and selfless service to our great nation.

I'd like to thank all the veterans who have joined our Coalition of the Willing , those of you who are working side by side with us in this campaign to bring a new direction and real leadership to Santa Fe in 2010. Your voices are being heard, and your help in this race is much appreciated.

If you have not yet joined our Veterans for Weh coalition, I'll be proud to have you join us. Click here to sign up.

As Governor, you can count on me to be an outspoken advocate for a better quality of life for all veterans, doing everything we can from the state level to improve access and quality of health care, provide better job opportunities, and support for our military families.

May God Bless America, our current troops, our Veterans, and our military families today and every day, so that we may remain "one Nation under God, indivisible with Liberty and Justice for all."

Respectfully,

Allen

P.S. I also ask you to consider donating to our campaign through our secure website. Whether you choose to donate $10 , $25 , or even $100 , any amount will help elect me as Governor of New Mexico. Together, we can take care of those who have sacrificed so much for so many people.
